THREE CHAPTERS OF A LEGEND:
A technical ambush, the escape across the salt, and the refuge before the volcano.
STAGE 1
THE AMBUSH
“This is where the legend began — an ambush at the edge of the salt flats.”
Stage 1 sets the scene: a terrain that mixes traps and tactics, like an old ambush on a forgotten trail. In this prologue to the adventure, riders face the Altiplano for the first time — coated in dust, surrounded by relics of an industrial past, riding along the thin line between history, the present, and the desert.
STAGE 2
THE GREAT SCAPE
“Crossing the salt flats was the only option — escape toward the horizon.”
Stage 2 is a journey of contrasts: first the reddish and yellowish earth, then volcanoes standing guard like sentinels, leading to the blinding white of the salt flats. It’s the queen stage — not only testing endurance over 116 km, but also symbolizing the great escape: an endless route where every pedal stroke is a wager against the wind, the sun, and the vastness of the Altiplano.
STAGE 3
THE FINAL REFUGE
“They say that on the slopes of Tunupa, a lost gunshot still echoes.”
Stage 3 represents the final refuge: a loop around the sacred colossus of the Altiplano, where history, nature, and culture converge. This stage is not just about strength, but reflection — passing through the villages at the volcano’s edge, gazing over the infinite salt plains, and closing the journey with an Andean feast. Here, the escape turns into celebration.
